My work showcases my appreciation of the detail in the moments in time that are often overlooked. The neighborhood featured in the print is in Paris, France, the city that holds memories of adventure from my first study abroad. My art asks the viewer to take the time to accept moments and remember the happenings. Chaillot de Paris, France was lovingly carved into a woodblock relief print. The setting of this print does not depict the usual attractions that many experience, such as the Notre Dame of Paris or Louvre Museum. However, this view from the Eiffel Tower contains the congestion of architecture and a composite of culture that I find extraordinary. As an artist, I am drawn to the small, unnoticed details of my surroundings - and I find satisfaction in piecing them together. I hope my work encourages viewers to embrace the experience and rediscover the beauty hidden in the ordinary.
