Remember the Little Things is a woodcut printmaking series created in 2025. My series showcases my appreciation of the details in everyday places that are often overlooked. This series features five places in Hampton, Virginia, my hometown, that hold pivotal memories from my childhood. My art asks the viewer to take the time to recognize and remember the ordinary. Each of these five places has been lovingly carved into a woodblock relief print. The settings of these prints may not be idyllic and tranquil, some are congested and noisy like Tommy's Diner or the sidewalk view of Mellen Street. However, I find peace in these moments. These everyday places hold extraordinary memories for me. As an artist, I am drawn to the small, often unnoticed details of my surroundings - and I find satisfaction in piecing them together to create somethings bigger. I hope my work encourages viewers to slow down and rediscover the beauty hidden in the ordinary.
